Patient Care Philosophy

I am especially interested in the quality care of trauma patients who are often affected at a young age by a life-altering experience. Many of these patients will undergo a long healing process and the first few hours after the accident can often improve patients' outcomes.

Personal Interests

Bicycling, traveling and a combination of both.

Prehospital care; airway management; fluid resuscitation of trauma patients.

Emergency medical systems; airway management; fluid resuscitation; permissive hypotension; injury mechanisms; trauma care in developing countries.

Dr. Grabinsky is an attending physician and program director for emergency and trauma anesthesia at Harborview Medical Center. He also is a UW associate professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine at the University of Washington. His clinical work is centered around the resuscitation and anesthesia of trauma patients and stabilizing patients for emergent surgeries.

Dr. Grabinsky studied medicine in Germany at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University and received his advanced medical decree in quality management from the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg. He completed a residency training in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain medicine at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Grabinsky is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
