Dr. Artru is a UW professor of anesthesiology in the UW School of Medicine and chief of anesthesia, associate medical director and chief of staff of UW Medical Center. He has done extensive research regarding the brain and central nervous system. He earned his bachelor's degree from University of California, Santa Cruz, and his M.D. from Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. His residency training in anesthesiology was at University of California, San Francisco and his fellowship in neuroanesthesiology was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He has been a faculty member at University of Washington since 1980 and earned a certificate in medical management from University of Washington in 2007. He is board certified in anesthesiology, past president of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care and the laboratory reports editor for the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology.
