Patient Care Philosophy

He is always mindful of placing the patient perspective first and foremost in everything he does. He uses the most advanced imaging technology to help cure disease and alleviate suffering through rapid, accurate imaging diagnosis, which leads to better therapy.

Personal Interests

Boating (sail and power), hiking, fly-fishing internationally and traveling.

Clinical Interests

The use of better CT technology to lower patient radiation doses, to lower health-care costs and to improve precision in diagnosis, particularly for the heart.

Research Interests

Same as his clinical interests as such a parallel empowers both.

Dr. Shuman is a UW professor of radiology and the director of clinical radiology at UW Medical Center. His professional interests center on body imaging with CT and MR, particularly cardiac imaging with non-invasive techniques.

He holds Level 3 Experience in Cardiac CT Certification as recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) and holds Cardiac CT Board Certification from the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT).
