Patient Care Philosophy

I approach the imaging of each and every child as if they were my own son or daughter. I enjoy working with the entire clinical care team to ensure that every imaging study is the right one for the patient and their family.

Personal Interests

I am an avid traveler, and enjoy learning languages and interacting with different cultures and traditions. I have lived and worked throughout Africa, and continue to do educational outreach in radiology in East Africa in my current position. I love to ski, sail, scuba dive, and practice yoga.

Clinical Interests

Epilepsy imaging; brain tumor imaging; malformation of brain development; pediatric stroke; inflammatory and autoimmune brain diseases.

Research Interests

Epilepsy imaging; MR spectroscopy; pediatric brain trauma; brain tumor imaging.

Dr. Nixon is a pediatric neuroradiologist who specializes in the imaging of children with epilepsy, brain tumors, strokes, and other disorders affecting the central nervous system. His education and training include a B.S. from Duke University, an M.D. from Chicago Medical School, residency training in diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington, and fellowships in pediatric radiology and pediatric neuroradiology at the Seattle Children's Hospital. Dr. Nixon's research interests are in the fields of epilepsy imaging, brain tumor imaging, malformations of brain development, and imaging of brain trauma. He is a nationally recognized lecturer in pediatric neuroradiology.
