Basavaraj V. Ghodke, M.D., is director of interventional neuroradiology and a UW professor of radiology and neurological surgery. He is an endovascular surgeon with over 20 years of experience in minimally invasive approaches to neurological disorders, cerebral and spinal interventional procedures and treatment of craniofacial vascular anomalies.

His clinical interests include interventional neuroradiology, endovascular neurosurgery, cerebral angiography, acute stroke treatment, cerebral and spinal arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), brain aneurysms, brain and spine tumor embolization, vascular malformation treatment, carotid and intracranial angioplasty and stenting.

His research interests include coiling with and without balloon or stent assistance for brain aneurysms, pipeline embolization for giant and complex aneurysms, endovascular embolization for brain AVMs, dural arteriovenous fistulas, carotid-cavernous fistulas, carotid stenting, intra-cranial stenting for atherosclerosis, tumor embolization, chemotherapy for retinoblastoma, lymphatic malformations, capillary and venous malformations sclerotherapy, acute stroke thrombectomy and vertebroplasty for spinal fractures.

Personal Interests

In his spare time, Dr. Ghodke enjoys photography, bicycling and following the Seattle Seahawks.
