AirCare for Washington State

Airlift Northwest is pleased to offer AirCare membership, a program that provides Washington residents with high-quality air medical service at an affordable cost.

The AirCare membership program directly helps fund Airlift Northwest, so we can continue to transport critically ill or injured adults, newborns, pregnant mothers at risk, and heart attack or stroke victims.

Alaska AirCare program update:

Last fall, Airlift Northwest had to suspend its AirCare membership program for Alaska residents. We are proud to announce that the Alaska Division of Insurance is working vigorously with Alaskan legislators and Airlift Northwest to pass legislation that will allow us to resume our AirCare program in Southeast Alaska. Check back on May 1 for more information.

Air medical transportation

When you or a family member is seriously ill or injured, the attending physician or emergency response team may determine that air medical transportation is needed. While the on-site medical team continues its expert care, the Airlift Northwest 24-hour ComCenter receives instructions on where you need to be transported for the care you need. Weather permitting, Airlift Northwest responds within minutes.

You and your family are in good hands. Our nurses can care for all types of critically ill or injured patients, from acute cardiac conditions to multiple traumas to obstetrical emergencies. We meet and exceed all standards of care for air medical services and are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.

Transport Services

Our aviation partners  — Aero Air and Air Methods Corporation—provide all aviation services, including the pilots and mechanics with the expertise to keep us all safe.

We have other programs to assist those who do not have health insurance coverage in the event that they need air medical transportation, such as financial assistance or other State programs.  We will provide assistance with this process in the event that our services were utilized.

Coverage

As an AirCare member, you are covered by Airlift Northwest — with bases located strategically throughout Washington – and by our reciprocal partners. The AirCare membership costs $79 a year covering all members of your household. Household members are defined as you, your spouse/partner and any dependents claimed on your income tax return. All members are required to have valid health insurance coverage. Members must be listed on the enrollment form.

If you are traveling outside of Airlift Northwest's service area, you will be covered if transported by one of our reciprocal partners, subject to the reciprocating program’s membership rules. Following is a list of Airlift Northwest’s current reciprocal partners.
  • NorthWest MedStar – Eastern WA; MT
  • CalStar - Central CA
  • Care Flight –Reno, NV
  • Life Flight Network – OR; ID; WA

AirCare Membership Program

Lifesaving air medical transport can be expensive and insurances may not cover all costs. As an AirCare member, only your insurance company receives a bill. Airlift Northwest works directly with your insurance company for claims processing. The AirCare membership program is secondary to all payers. The purpose of the AirCare membership is to cover the deductible and coinsurance amounts that may not be covered by the primary payer.

For more information or to become an AirCare member, you can call Membership Services at 888.835.1599 or e-mail us at membership@airliftnw.org.

New – Vacation Membership

Airlift Northwest now offers a special membership package to those vacationing in Washington, but who are not residents of these states. Vacation memberships are good for three consecutive months and cost $60 for Washington destinations.
