Each year, two local magazines—Seattle Met and
Seattle Magazine—publish the results of their annual surveys regarding top local doctors. UW Medicine physicians fared well in both the
Seattle Met and
Seattle Magazine Top Doctors surveys.
Seattle Magazine's 2016 Top Doctors survey, doctors in the Puget Sound area were asked to which physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants they would send a loved one for medical care. More than 1,000 healthcare professionals participated, with nearly 15,000 nominations. Data collection and evaluation was managed by a local research design and data collection company (GMA Research) and the online survey was managed by a website hosting and development firm (CHCS Internet Development). Several factors determined who appears on this list, including the number of nominations received by each physician, the area of specialty, the total number of physicians practicing in each specialty, the vote distribution, the standing of the candidates, geography, education and residency. Two UW Medicine doctors were featured in articles in the 2016 edition:
Seattle Met Top Doctors survey polled doctors, nurses and physician assistants across King, Snohomish, Kitsap and Pierce counties, asking "If you or a loved one needed medical care, whom would you choose?" Voters nominated their peers based on the provider's level of experience and competency within their specialty, rapport with patients - including patient satisfaction and compliance with care recommendations - and ability to work effectively with colleagues across specialties to deliver the best care for patients. The top vote recipients were then vetted by the Washington State Department of Health to ensure good standing before being included on the list. Find the
