Neal D. Futran joined the University of Washington faculty in September 1995. He earned his dentistry degree at the University of Pennsylvania and completed training in oral surgery at the State University of New York. Dr. Futran received his M.D. degree from the Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate Medical School), New York. He trained in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Rochester, followed by a head and neck oncology and microvascular surgery fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York.

Dr. Futran is board certified in both Otolaryngology and Oral Surgery, and brings outstanding expertise in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of complex oncology and trauma cases.

As professor and director of Head and Neck Surgery at University of Washington of Medical Center, he has an active microvascular and oncologic practice, as well as clinical interest in endoscopic sinus surgery and facial trauma. Research activities include microvascular oromandibular, midface, and skull base reconstruction, color flow Doppler analysis of the fibula free flap, and specialized monitoring techniques of free tissue transfers. Dr. Futran lectures extensively on these topics nationally and internationally. 

Dr. Futran recently received the Distinguished Service Excellence award at UW Medical Center and was appointed to the North American Craniofacial Education Council of the AO-ASIF.  He is also listed in Best Doctors of America.
