Maternal Infant Care Clinic (UWMC)

About this Clinic

At the Maternal & Infant Care Clinic (MICC), we offer a full continuum of pregnancy-related services and expertise to ensure you get the care you need, at the time you need it. Whether you choose to be cared for by Certified Nurse Midwives or OBGYN physicians our providers are committed to providing safe, respectful and family-oriented maternity care.

Should your pregnancy need high-risk care, our Maternal-Fetal Medicine program and the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit offers the region’s highest degree of care for high-risk mothers and babies. We are the only service in the state to have neonatologists and perinatologists in the hospital around the clock.

Because the MICC is the only academic OBGYN center in the state, we are a research center. This means we can offer our patients immediate access to state-of-the-art technologies should the need arise.

And, our nursing staff has held Magnet status for excellence in nursing since 1994, one of just 3 percent to be recognized out of the nation's 5,700 hospitals and healthcare organizations for excellence in nursing care. We were the first to be designated world-wide and are on our 4th reaccreditation as a Magnet hospital.

Among the services available to expectant parents:

  • Specialty Services
    • OBGYN physicians provide general care for healthy expectant mothers.
    • Certified Nurse Midwives specialize in caring for women with normal pregnancies and births. Our midwives are health-care professionals with the same access as their medical colleagues to UW specialists--obstetricians, perinatologists, obstetrical anesthesiologists, and pediatricians.
    • Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians are internationally known for guiding high-risk women with medical complications or other difficulties through pregnancy. These include women with diabetes or hypertension, and those at risk for giving birth too early.
  • Classes for expectant and new parents
  • Tours
See where you will deliver your baby in our beautiful, private birthing rooms. The facilities are the newest in King County with the latest in technology and exceptional medical care.
