The Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic

First established in 1978, the Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic includes two full-time perinatalogists, Geralyn O'Reilly M.D. and Zane Brown, M.D., who have specialized skills in obstetric management of diabetic pregnancies, including obstetric ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, and fetal intervention.

  • Pre-conception counselling of the woman with diabetes desiring pregnancy
  • Intensive multi-disciplinary team management of both diabetes and obstetrical care during the pregnancy
  • Management of blood sugar control with standard insulin therapy, continuous infusion insulin pump and oral hypoglycemic drugs
  • Intensive nutritional and diabetes education for the pregnant woman
  • Social services counselling
