Harborview Medical Center, Department of Ophthalmology, provides high quality comprehensive medical and surgical vision care including routine dilated eye exams, visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, management of ocular diseases and eye surgery. Additionally, diagnostic testing is provided for visual field defects, glaucoma, and diabetes with ocular involvement.

Specific Ophthalmology Clinics include Cataract, Glaucoma, Neuro-ophthalmology, Oculoplastic, and Retina. Modern outpatient clinics are staffed by University of Washington Department of Ophthalmology Faculty, Resident Physicians and Ophthalmic Technicians and are equipped for state-of-the-art ambulatory care and teaching.
Special Services
Patient Care Coordination of inpatient and outpatient care, including scheduling surgery, arranging diagnostic procedures and/or coordinating requests for consultation among other medical specialties. This is the primary liaison among the hospital, the patient and family, referring physician, outside agencies, staff from other hospitals and the general public by providing information and advice regarding hospital services; provides information to the patient or the referring physician on behalf of attending physicians.

Appointments and Referrals
Patients on managed care plans usually must be referred by a primary care provider. Self-referrals are acceptable in certain circumstances.
