Harborview Medical Center is home to several centers of emphasis that provide and promote exemplary patient care, research and training. The region’s only Level I burn and trauma centers are housed at Harborview and are a resource to communities throughout the region.
Harborview also provides a full complement of services in the area of neurosciences—caring not only for traumatic head injuries, but providing care to individuals with central nervous system conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, brain tumors and others.
As part of the Center for Advanced Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (CARER), the orthopaedic care offered at Harborview is recognized worldwide. Consistently ranked as one of the top 10 orthopedic centers by US News and World Report, Harborview provides treatment and consultation for some of the most complex orthopedic injuries in the region. CARER also encompasses Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Rehabilitation Medicine and Social Work
Harborview's AIDS/STD program provides medical care, nursing care and social work services to patients with AIDS/STD.
Harborview is committed to providing quality outpatient, inpatient and respite care to the region's most vulnerable populations, regardless of their ability to pay. The Center for Healthcare Improvement for Addictions, Mental Illness and Medically Vulnerable Populations (CHAMMP) supports this commitment through research and training in mental illness and the co-conditions of addictions and chronic medical problems.
Harborview is the largest provider of inpatient mental health services in King County, as well as providing a wide spectrum of services to individuals with substance-related disorders.
